Dorf & Nelson LLP is proud to welcome Keiki-Michael Cabanos as Counsel in the firm’s Corporate Department. Keiki is a vital addition to the firm as it grows to meet the ever-increasing needs of its clientele.
Keiki advises, manages and negotiates transactions and new ventures, including private equity transactions, securitizations and venture capital. He provides legal support on contracts for transactions, as well as all governance documentation. Keiki also provides counsel to companies concerning their general business operations.
Keiki represents, as general counsel, a renowned registered broker-dealer, conducting private investments and securitizations for clients in a variety of sectors, including financial institutions, real estate and new energy clients. He provides legal counsel for company capital raising endeavors and as well as operations. In addition to counseling transactional work, Keiki advises SEC/FINRA registered broker-dealer and its affiliates concerning compliance and securities laws.
He also has experience with closed-end fund formation and fund operations as the initial Chief Financial Officer, and General Counsel for First Albany Corporation’s private equity fund focused on IT and New Energy Technologies.
Keiki received a B.S. degree from Cornell University, an M.B.A. degree from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s Lally School of Management & Technology, and his J.D. cum laude from Albany Law School. He received his FINRA certification as a regulatory and compliance professional at Georgetown University. He is admitted to practice law in New York and Connecticut and is a member of the NYSBA (Business Law and Corporate Counsel Sections) and ABA.
