James Makris is a Partner in the firm's Litigation Department and Healthcare & General Liability Defense Group.
Mr. Makris is a seasoned litigator with over 25 years of experience developing a deep and thriving practice in the defense of medical malpractice claims as to hospitals and physicians. He represents a range of health care facilities and professionals in cases involving a variety of medical specialties. He regularly defends hospital clients in claims arising from falls, pressure ulcers, medication errors, delays in diagnosis of cancer and surgical malpractice, to name a few. In a supervisory capacity, he is responsible for managing and resolving pending medical malpractice claims. His highly effective, organized approach to litigation continues to draw requests to teach associate attorneys how to synthesize the facts contained in medical records and provide clients with cogent case analysis.
Mr. Makris develops and presents lectures to hospital residents at all levels on the importance of documentation and the role it plays in defending medical malpractice cases. In addition, he lectures at hospitals regarding the role of the health care provider in reducing litigation risk.
