Jennifer Nelson Flynn is Partner and Group Head of Dorf Nelson & Zauderer LLP’s Fractional General Counsel Practice Group, where she provides fractional General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, and Chief Privacy Officer services to small to mid-size businesses to meet their in-house legal needs, including management and mitigation of business enterprise risks, drafting and negotiating key business transaction agreements (sales, route-to-market, distribution, contract manufacturing, sourcing, logistics and transfers), conducting regulatory and FTC label change, advertising & promotions and claims compliance review, training digital marketing teams and in-house legal teams on data privacy compliance, and providing other governance, policies and board presentations as requested.
Ms. Nelson Flynn also partners with the firm’s Cyber Security, Data Privacy & AI Practice Group where she advises businesses and law firms on compliance measures for digital information security and cybersecurity, incident response planning, generative artificial intelligence use policy and due diligence, and provides governance, policies and training for consumer data privacy.
Ms. Nelson Flynn most recently served as President, Chief Legal Officer and Chief Operating Officer for an artificial intelligence tech startup, where she sat on the Board of Directors, advised and implemented intellectual property protection, corporate formation, tax planning, and negotiated critical company contracts.
Prior to that, she served as Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, Chief Privacy Officer and Assistant Corporate Secretary for two CPG public companies, Prestige Consumer Healthcare Inc. and Zevia PBC. At both companies, Ms. Nelson Flynn was responsible for managing global legal, corporate governance, and data privacy affairs for sales, marketing, digital marketing technology, supply chain, enterprise risk, information technology and security, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, incident response, cyber insurance, disaster recovery, and corporate and social responsibility.
Ms. Nelson Flynn has also served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Head of Regulatory Affairs at a wellness and beauty incubator, Maesa, a Bain Capital company, where she led the legal and regulatory teams to drive U.S. and international growth and revenue with brands such as Flower®, Sofia Vergara Fragrance, and Kristen Ess® Haircare. Before joining Maesa, she served in legal roles at AriZona Beverages, and Fidelity National, among others.
Ms. Nelson Flynn began her career in private practice at a prominent Hartford, Connecticut law firm as a corporate tax attorney, following which, she served as attorney-advisor and judicial clerk for the Hon. Joan Seitz Pate on the United States Tax Court.
