Lawyer Overview

Melissa G. Andrieux, Esq. is a Partner at Dorf Nelson & Zauderer LLP, where she brings over 20 years of litigation experience to her practice in the firm's Commercial Litigation Department. In this capacity, she advises clients on complex commercial disputes and matters requiring both rigorous legal acumen and strategic counsel.

Commercial Litigation Practice

Ms. Andrieux is a seasoned trial lawyer whose practice centers on high-stakes commercial disputes for businesses navigating consequential legal challenges. She has represented clients across industries in matters where the outcome has real operational, financial, and reputational stakes, and where the difference between a good lawyer and the right one is clarity under pressure.

Her litigation instincts were forged in the courtroom. Before entering private practice, Ms. Andrieux served as an Assistant District Attorney in Queens County, where she tried cases before judges and juries, examined and cross-examined witnesses, and developed the factual command and advocacy discipline that define her work today. That foundation, built in a setting where cases are won or lost on preparation, credibility, and execution, informs how she approaches every commercial matter she handles

As a partner in the firm’s Commercial Litigation Department, Ms. Andrieux brings that same courtroom orientation to complex business disputes. She counsels clients with directness and precision, helping them understand not only the legal landscape but the practical consequences of each strategic choice. Her experience spans a broad range of commercial matters and industries, and she is equally effective advising clients on litigation strategy at the outset and advocating for them when the dispute cannot be resolved short of trial.

Chief Development Officer

In addition to her litigation practice, Ms. Andrieux serves as the firm's Chief Development Officer, positioning her at the intersection of legal practice, business strategy, and organizational culture. She is responsible for designing and executing the firm's business development strategy, strengthening key client relationships, and identifying opportunities for expansion across industries and practice areas. She works to enhance client service delivery, drive revenue growth, and cultivate long-term partnerships. Through a relationship-focused approach, she plays a pivotal role in broadening the firm's reach and visibility in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

Ms. Andrieux is also a member of the firm’s leadership team on matters of culture and inclusion. She fosters an environment where all employees feel welcomed, valued, respected, and empowered to succeed, and consults with the firm’s clients and other businesses on the development of their own inclusion and belonging strategies, trainings, and related initiatives.

Beyond the firm, Ms. Andrieux builds and maintains relationships with community groups, consultants, business and legal organizations, and industry networks to stay ahead of trends, implement best practices, and advocate for inclusion in the broader community. Prior to joining Dorf Nelson & Zauderer, she served as an Assistant District Attorney in Queens County, New York, and as an attorney at a New York civil litigation firm.

Community & Inclusion Leadership

A nationally recognized thought leader, Ms. Andrieux is regularly called upon to speak at the intersection of law, business development, and inclusion. She is featured in 914 Inc. Magazine's 2022 and 2023 issues devoted to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and has been recognized as one of the Power Players in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion by PoliticsNY and amMetro New York.

Ms. Andrieux is an active member of the Business Council of Westchester, the county's largest business membership organization, where she serves as an Ambassador, mentoring new members through their first year. She is also an active member of the New York State Bar Association, Nassau County Bar Association, Westchester County Bar Association, Women's Bar Association of the State of New York, and the Westchester Women's Bar Association, where she previously served as a board member and co-chair of the DEI Committee.
